The Unicorn

Yesterday was my friend Boman's birthday! We had a party for him with the theme of "fruity and cheesey". (My idea) I don't know if I should be proud or not of that stupidly funny idea, but I think I should be. For the party we made fruity pebble crispie treats. Needless to say they were fantastic! To our suprise (say in voice of Jim Carrey in "Series of Unfortunate Events") we actually made something more than just a treat.

Yes, you guessed it, we made a unicorn! This is Kristin, with our new friend the unicorn... Basically this is the best thing I have ever seen! And you can tell by Kristin's face that she agrees with me. So all in all, I think last night was a success.

On a different note, I leave for the Philippines in 34 days!! Can you believe it? Because I can't!

bucket list

For the summer Kristin and I decided to make a bucket list! Well since I will only be here for half of the summer now, we need to get busy! Here is our list:
  • go to Thai Ruby
  • Make good use of our "pass of all passes"
  • go star tipping
  • watch "A Walk to Remember"
  • Road Trip
  • Go to a drive-in movie
  • send a package to Slater
  • go to Moab
  • go to Cranky Chuckies
  • go on roof of Jamestown
  • Great wall of chocolate
  • Light hands on fire
  • burn candle
  • go fishing
  • hike timpanogos
  • go tubbing down Provo River
  • run through sprinklers
  • go to Tucanos
  • go to Legends (chocolate chip cookies)
So basically we have a lot to do! (I omitted one, but Kristin knows which one it is :) it's just not for the public eye). Things we have already done:
  • go star tipping
  • burned part of the candle
Needless to say, we have a lot of work to do. There are some things that I won't be able to do like, "make good use of our pass of all passes" because I didn't buy one. This is probably the one time that my procrastination skill has paid off (and yes it is a skill). I kept procrastinating buying my pass of all passes, and now since I won't be here come July, it is a good thing I didn't buy one, because then I would have spent money on it with out using it a ton. Another thing I probably won't be able to do is go on a road trip..... but maybe we can work something out!

If you couldn't tell, Kristin and I really enjoy food. That is what most of our bucket list consists of. Everybody is invited (especially Cami, Becca, and Brittany) to any and all of our adventures! I am expecially looking forward to lighting my hands on fire. Even though that terrifies me, I need to get over my fear.

Graduating!

So tomorrow is a big day for our family! This little guys, is graduating from HIGH SCHOOL!!!!

His name is Joseph Palmer, aka Jojo, aka Joe Dog, aka my younger (no longer little) brother. Who would have thought that this day would come and that cute little boy would turn into a great young man? Well it did, and it definitely happened too quickly. I wonder what it is like to be a parent because this is hard enough for me to be going through. Now he is all grown up. (He is such a nice brother and did the lazy eye so we can be twinners in this picture.) The past two summers we were able to work together in the best place on earth, Jackson Hole, Wyoming (even though my best place on earth might soon be changing to the Philippines...). We always had such a blast there! There is never a dull moment when Joseph was around. We were both river guides up on the snake river. Our summers were full of sun, laughing, adventures, and friends. They were the greatest. Joseph always knows how to put a smile on my face. Even when I am mad at him, he'll say something funny so that I have to laugh, which sometimes makes me more mad but I can't stop laughing so I don't really care. Whenever I am in a bad mood, a quick little phone call to him is all I need to brighten up my day. Here are some of my favorite things about him:
  • he is probably the funniest person I know
  • he is a worthy priesthood holder
  • he is preparing to serve a mission
  • he stays calm under pressure situations
  • he is a very hard worker
  • he is confident and doesn't care what people think
  • he is very caring and considerate of others
  • he always includes people and looks out for others
  • he can make me laugh no matter what mood I am in

He is such a great person and I am so proud of him!!! CONGATULATIONS JOJO!!

Mission Call!!

Ok so I decided to start a blog!! YAY! Soon (in six weeks) I am going to serve a mission for my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I couldn't be more excited to teach the people of the Philippines about Christ and His atoning sacrifice for us. I got called to serve in the Philippine Baguio Mission, Tagalog speaking. Needless to say, I was SHOCKED when I recieved my call. The PHILIPPINES!!!!!!! I would have never imagined that I would be serving there.

Here is a picture that I took from my cute sister-in-laws instagram. I guess a picture says a thousand words. Or just one in particular: SHOCK!!

I have learned a few words in my new language. Mahal kita. Which means "I love you". That is basically all that I know. Hopefully I will learn more, because after all I am going to have to teach people about our amazing Savior, so I will need to know more words than just that.

Also here is the flag of my new home!!

I can't wait to start my mission and serve the people of the Philippines. I have been trying to learn a little bit about the culture (via Wikipedia, which has been really helpful) but I feel I am not getting the full effect. I am just so excited and grateful to be able to have this experience.
